Geotechnical Services
Geotech Nicholls Ltd provides independent geotechnical engineering advice on ground conditions, geological hazards and site suitability. Services are tailored to the site and the decision that needs to be made, from an initial ground risk review to targeted investigation and detailed technical reporting.
The consultancy works with private homeowners, residential and commercial developers, engineers, architects, local authorities, infrastructure organisations, legal professionals and other technical consultants.

Mining – Legacy Issues
Assessment of historical mining activity, including desk studies and formal Mining Risk Assessments where required. Targeted investigations can be designed and supervised to identify risks associated with mine workings, shafts, subsidence and gas, helping clients plan safe development and appropriate remediation.
Instability
Investigation and analysis of natural slopes, cuttings and embankments to diagnose the causes of movement, assess landslip risk and inform appropriate stabilisation measures. Advice is presented clearly for clients, designers, local authorities and construction teams.

Foundations
Ground investigation, in-situ testing and laboratory classification can be used to inform suitable foundation solutions. Advice may cover straightforward foundation assessment as well as more complex consideration of settlement, ground improvement and buildability.
Site Investigation
Site investigations are developed around the site, the proposed use and the information required. Work may include desk-based review, site inspection, targeted ground investigation, interpretation of findings and clear reporting. Drone-assisted inspections may also be used where appropriate.

Litigation Support
Independent technical advice is available where ground conditions, geological hazards or site suitability form part of a dispute or legal decision. Geotech Nicholls Ltd reviews the available evidence, explains the technical issues clearly and provides practical, evidence-based conclusions under the requirements of the Civils Procedure Rules.
